99 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of valid provisional driving licences on issue currently. [10310/01]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Molloy): At 1 January 2001, it is estimated that 345,000 provisional licences were current. This compares to an estimated 380,000 provisional licences current at 1 January 2000.
