Vol. 534 No. 2

Written Answers. - Greater Dublin Authority.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

14 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he expects to publish the consultation paper on institutional arrangements for land use and transport planning in the greater Dublin area; if the paper will include proposals for a greater Dublin authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10149/01]

A consultation paper on proposals for new institutional arrangements for land use and transport in the greater Dublin area has been published today. These proposals would involve the creation of a new authority with a statutory mandate for strategic land use and transport planning and co-ordination in the greater Dublin area.Interested organisations and persons are being invited to comment on the proposals set out in the paper. Having regard to the outcome of the consultation process, I intend that legislative proposals will be brought forward later this year.
