Vol. 534 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Economic and Social Forum Report.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

42 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he expects to conclude his consideration of the report of the National Economic and Social Forum on social and affordable housing, including its recommendation for a national housing authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10160/01]

The report of the National Economic and Social Forum – Social and Affordable Housing and Accommodation: Building the Future, its recommendations and policy implications are being examined in detail by my Department in the context of the comprehensive measures taken in relation to housing and including the possible added value, if any, that a national housing authority might contribute in current circumstances.

I will submit the findings of my Department's examination of the report's recommendations to the Government. It should be noted that some of the recommendations contained in the report have already been implemented following the review of social and affordable housing needs and programmes undertaken by my Department last year.
