Question:

148 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of health board regions which request a contribution from applicants under the special housing aid for the elderly scheme and the way in which the contribution rate is calculated. [10384/01]

As the Deputy is aware, the special housing aid scheme for the elderly is administered by the health boards and the Eastern Regional Health Authority, on behalf of the Department of the Environment and Local Government. I have instructed the chief executive officer of each health board and the Eastern Regional Health Authority to reply directly to the Deputy by 18 April 2001 giving the required information in cases where they have not done so already.

Question:

149 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of applicants in each county for whom assistance under the special housing aid for the elderly scheme was approved by the Western Health Board in 1999, giving details on a county basis; and the contributions which were made by applicants towards the costs of work approved. [10385/01]

I understand the information sought by the Deputy was forwarded to him by the Western Health Board on 9 April 2001.
