Written Answers. - Sale of Alcohol and Cigarettes to Minors.

Question:

164 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if the law regarding the sale of alcohol and cigarettes to minors will be enforced in an area (details supplied) in Dublin 8. [10588/01]

The law regarding the sale of alcohol is the responsibility of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.

Enforcement of regulations regarding the sale of cigarettes to under-age persons is primarily the responsibility of the appropriate area health board. The details supplied have been forwarded to the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
