Vol. 534 No. 3

Written Answers. - Child Care Facilities.

Paul McGrath

Question:

220 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, in the context of the budget 2001 announcement concerning the provision of child care in local authority developments, he will detail, per local authority, (i) the projects approved to date; (ii) the financial allocation for these facilities per local authority; (iii) the number of child care places provided under this initiative; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10827/01]

Proposals received from local authorities for funding to meet the capital cost of child care facilities in local authority and social housing projects are under consideration at present and decisions will be notified to local authorities as soon as possible. It is not possible, at this stage, to say how many child care places will be provided under the programme.
