Vol. 534 No. 3

Written Answers. - Culling of Wild Goats.

Michael Ring

Question:

253 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the plans she has to organise a cull of the wild goats in a village (details supplied) in County Mayo. [10505/01]

Responsibility for road safety is a matter for Mayo County Council and if the goats are posing a safety risk to road users this matter should be brought to the attention of the local authority for appropriate action. Goats are not a protected species under the Wildlife Act, 1976.
