Vol. 534 No. 3

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

David Stanton

Question:

89 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will make funding available to enable the boat winch at Guileen in east Cork to be replaced, the slipway to be repaired and to enable a mooring ring to be fitted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10574/01]

The pier at Guileen in East Cork is owned by Cork County Council and responsibility for its repair and maintenance rests with the local authority in the first instance. My Department has not, to date, received any proposals from Cork County Council in relation to this pier. Any proposals which the local authority wishes to put forward will receive careful consideration, having regard to the overall development needs of fishery harbours generally and the funding available for such works.
