Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

John Perry

Question:

216 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will approve a REP scheme application by a person (details supplied); if he will ensure that a full payment is released; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11786/01]

A penalty was imposed on the REPS payment of the person named because a cross check by my Department revealed that all the land farmed had not been declared for REPS purposes. This is a fundamental requirement of the scheme.

An appeal was lodged with my Department's REPS appeals committee on the person's behalf on 5 April 2001. The case will be investigated and when a report is available the appeals committee will consider the matter. The appeals committee is independent and its decisions are final.
