Written Answers - Deboning Contract.

Question:

226 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the penalties which are provided in respect of the de-boning contract between his Department and meat factories; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11942/01]

Current deboning contracts for intervention beef provide, in cases of non-fulfilment of the contract, for any or all of the following: (a) a reduction or cancellation of the payment under the contract; (b) the rejection of the boxed beef produced under the contract; (c) the suspension from further deboning of intervention beef without notice; and (d) forfeiture of the security required of each contractor and recovery of any losses beyond the security value sustained.
