Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Orthondontic Service.

Seán Haughey

Question:

351 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health and Children when the pilot scheme announced by the Eastern Regional Health Authority for a grant-in-aid scheme for private orthodontic treatment in the Northern Area Health Board area will be operational; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12129/01]

The provision of orthodontic services is the responsibility of the health boards in the first instance.

The chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority, ERHA, has informed me that the working group established to report on the implementation of the grant-in-aid scheme in the Northern Area Health Board, is currently continuing its work to finalise the scheme. The target date for the implementation of the scheme will be late May-early June.
