Question:419 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of housing starts sanctioned for each local authority in the years 1998, 1999 and 2001; and the number commenced each year. [11959/01]

The number of authorised starts in the local authority housing construction-acquisition programme for the years 1998, 1999 and the four year multi annual programme for 2000-03 is set out in the following table. The number of dwellings started or acquired by local authorities for each of the years 1998, 1999 and 2000 is published in my Department's annual housing statistics bulletins, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
