635 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science the action his Department will take to address the needs of teachers working in schools in disadvantaged areas in view of the recent report submitted to his Department from the curriculum development unit in connection with a poverty awareness programme developed with three primary schools in Dublin 24; his views on whether suggestions from this report should now be progressed by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Lenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give consideration to the contents of a report emanating from a poverty awareness programme conducted by the CDVEC curriculum development unit with schools in disadvantaged areas (details supplied); his views on the suggestions for improvement contained in the report, specifically those relating to his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 635 and 669 together.

My Department has recently received the report referred to by the Deputies. All the matters raised in the report will be fully considered by officials of my Department.
