Vol. 535 No. 2

Written Answers - ASTI Dispute.

Joe Higgins

Question:

101 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Education and Science the contacts he has had with the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland. [8274/01]

I have maintained contact with the Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland at all times throughout the current dispute. In addition, officials from my Department have been involved in discussions at the Labour Relations Commission and the Labour Court with ASTI in an effort to resolve the dispute. The recommendations of the Labour Court are currently the subject of a ballot of ASTI members.

On 17 April I attended and addressed ASTI's annual convention in Galway.
