Adjournment Debate Matters.

The following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 were received by the Ceann Comhairle, and this is a list of the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deenihan – to ask the Minister for Education and Science if he will advance the application for an extension to St. Joseph's Convent, Ballybunion, County Kerry, as a matter of urgency; (2) Deputy Naughten – the need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide funding for personal assistants at St. Michael's special school, Castlerea, in light of the announcement by FÁS that it will no longer support the programme in the school; (3) Deputy Fitzgerald – the reason a member of the Naval Service must leave her employment because of coeliac disease; (4) Deputy Gormley – the practice of symphysiotomies in Irish maternity hospitals during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s; and the need for a full investigation of the matter by the Dáil Health Committee; (5) Deputy Ó Caoláin – the need for a speedy and just resolution of the dispute in the furniture industry involving 500 workers, primarily in County Monaghan and the north east region, who have been on strike since 1 May.

The matters raised by the following Deputies have been selected for discussion: Deputies Deenihan, Naughten, Fitzgerald and Gormley.
