Vol. 535 No. 3

Written Answers - Funeral Costs.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

14 Mr. O'Shea asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the significant divergence in funeral costs charged by undertakers; if she will consider requesting the Director of Consumer Affairs to conduct an investigation into such costs; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12198/01]

On the face of it, a large variation in funeral costs charged by undertakers would suggest that competition exists in this sector. Here, as elsewhere full advantage should be taken of competition by seeking out the best value.
