44 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress being made regarding preparations for the implementation of EU Directive 199/44/EC on certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees; the consultation process which will be undertaken in regard to the directive; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Work has not yet begun on the transposition into Irish law of Directive 1999/44/EC. The deadline for giving effect to the Directive is 01 January 2002.
