Vol. 535 No. 3
100 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason the application made by a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim for a hardship grant was not approved. [12627/01]
An essential prerequisite for eligibility for the hardship grant scheme is that the holding of the herd owner applying must continue to be restricted following a full herd retest i.e. that at least one further retest is required. As the full herd retest carried out in this case showed the herd to be clear and that no further retest was required the person concerned did not qualify for the payment of a hardship grant.
Because of a problem in relation to a missing animal, the cattle identity cards could not be returned until this issue was satisfactorily resolved for the DVO by the person concerned.
101 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when payment of a cow suckler grant will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [12653/01]
The person named applied on 26 cows under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme.
One of these animals died on 6 October 2000 and the person named notified my Department of the death of this animal on 16 October 2000 as is required under the terms and conditions governing the scheme. My Department wrote to him on 31 October 2000 to inquire if he had an eligible replacement for this animal. He contacted my Department by phone on 1 November 2000 advising that he did not have a replacement animal. Consequently, in accordance with clause 22(b) of the terms and conditions of the scheme, no payment is due to the person named in respect of this animal.
