Vol. 535 No. 3

Written Answers - Equality Policy.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

108 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Finance his policy on systematically including a gender perspective in budgetary proposals; the mechanisms used; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12719/01]

Under the regulations governing the conduct of Government meetings, all proposals put forward by Ministers must consider the impact of the proposal on women. Memoranda for the Government presenting proposals for decision must indicate that the assessment has been carried out and summarise its results. The Government is, therefore, in a position to take account of the effect of its decisions on women.
