Vol. 535 No. 4

Written Answers - Community Nursing Homes.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

173 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Health and Children the present position in relation to a welfare home in Ballinasloe, County Galway; the discussions which have taken place with the Western Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12737/01]

The provision of a community nursing unit in Ballinasloe has been identified by the Western Health Board as a priority within the funding which will be made available to the board under the national development plan in relation to services for older people in the period up to, and including, 2006. It is hoped that, at minimum, a phase of the Ballinasloe project will have been provided by the end of 2006 but, as yet, there have been no firm decisions made on content or possible start dates.
