Vol. 535 No. 4

Written Answers - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

178 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the fact that only 30 beds are available in the Meath Adelaide Hospital at Tallaght, Dublin 24, for urology cases as compared to 50 in the old Meath Hospital; if any other beds have been provided elsewhere to make up for this deficit; if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties and pain that this shortfall and consequent delays are causing to so many patients as this hospital covers a wide area, including patients from Counties Cavan and Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12844/01]

Responsibility for the provision of urology services at the Meath Adelaide Hospital at Tallaght rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority, ERHA. My Department has asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised and to respond directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
