Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Hayes – the need to clarify the position in respect of lands at Kingswood Heights, Dublin 24 which are needed to provide playing pitches for local schools and teams in the area; (2) Deputy McGuinness – the need to establish new procedures in the compulsory purchase of land for road construction and to protect the rights of land owners and local communities; (3) Deputy Ring – the position regarding an extension to a primary school in County Mayo; (4) Deputy Kirk – the need to outline the assistance available under the rural development initiative to help the regeneration of the Cooley Peninsula, County Louth; (5) Deputy Naughten – the need for the Minister for Public Enterprise to intervene in the Irish Rail dispute in light of the ongoing industrial problems within the company; (6) Deputy Enright – the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to direct the industrial agencies to give priority status to the midland region to address the income imbalance which shows Offaly as having the lowest per capita income in the country; (7) Deputy Upton – the need for legislation to regulate the use of genetic testing; (8) Deputy Flanagan – the widespread discrimination against and mistreatment of immigrant workers in the State and the need to take action thereon; and (9) Deputy Clune – the need to make a statement on reports that Ireland has increased its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 22% since 1990 and has already exceeded its target emission rate for 2010.

The matters raised by Deputies Flanagan, Kirk, Upton and Clune have been selected for discussion.
