Question:

211 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will list all by-passes and bridges or tunnels which have involved private investors; the nature of the involvement of the private investors in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12990/01]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 210 and 211 together.

The National Roads Authority was established with effect from 1 January 1994 and has overall responsibility for the planning and supervision of works for the construction and maintenance of national roads. Information on national roads since the establishment of the NRA should appropriately be sought from the authority itself.

Information on national road improvement projects from 1989 to the establishment of the NRA, which cost in excess of £1 million, is set out in the Department's roads bulletin 1993. I am arranging to have a copy of the relevant extract sent to the Deputy. Information prior to 1989 is not readily available.
Information on recent relevant non-national road projects funded under the Department's specific grants programme is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy.
There are currently two bridges in the State, which were built under public private partnership arrangements, namely, the East Link and West Link bridges in Dublin. The nature of the private sector involvement in each case is set out in the relevant agreements between the parties.
