Vol. 535 No. 4

Written Answers - Harbours and Piers.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

110 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if funding will be provided in his Department's programme in 2001 for an extension to the Kinsale Pier, County Cork; and if development of the fish landing berths at Adam's Quay, Kinsale, County Cork, will take place. [12902/01]

Earlier this year, Kinsale Harbour Commissioners put forward proposals to my Department for the development of Adam's Quay, Kinsale, as a fish landing quay and a delegation from Kinsale Harbour Commissioners has met with officials from my Department to discuss their proposals. The commissioners have recently forwarded a report on the fishing activity in the harbour and this will assist in the consideration process. The question of funding at Adam's Quay will be kept under review, in the context of the funding available under the National Development Plan, 2000-2006, for works at fishery harbours generally and overall national priorities.
