Vol. 535 No. 5

Written Answers - Special Educational Needs.

Liam Aylward

Question:

202 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 456 of 27 February 2001 he will indicate the progress which has since been made by his Department to secure a suitable school placement for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13123/01]

I can assure the Deputy that my Department is making every effort to secure a suitable educational placement for the child in question. The child was assessed by a member of the national educational psychological service in March of this year and I understand that the psychologist has made recommendations in relation to a suitable school placement. My Department's inspectorate will be in contact with the child's family very shortly to discuss the outcome of the assessment and a possible school placement for the child.
