Question:137 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will investigate an application by a person (details supplied) in County Limerick for beef premium grants under the 2000 scheme, and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13082/01]
The person named applied for special beef premium on 19 June 2000 on 16 animals. As he did not submit a 2000 area aid application his entitlement under the premia schemes is restricted to 15 livestock units.
The person named has a milk quota of 15,627 gallons which equates to 17.84 livestock units, that is 15,627 divided by the national average milk yield of 876 gallons, and exceeds his full livestock unit entitlement of 15 livestock units.
Under the EU regulations governing the special beef premium scheme, all animals applied on in excess of the applicant's stocking density limit are deemed to have received the category of the premium for which they were submitted and may not be re-applied on for that same category. It is also a requirement that cattle identity cards-passports show the correct premium status of animals and, therefore, they were stamped and punched for the premium in respect of which they were submitted. The onus lies with each applicant to ensure that all applications submitted remain within their stocking density limit.
Therefore, no payment is due to the person named in respect of his 2000 special beef premium application.
