Vol. 536 No. 1

Written Answers - CIE Property.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

16 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the specific lands to be disposed of, following the review and subsequent update of CIE's surplus property portfolio, and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13166/01]

The disposal of any specific property is a matter for the board of CIE to determine, and is a matter in which I have no function. However, consultants carried out an independent review of CIE property in 1999 and, in the light of developments in the property market since then, they provided my Department with an update on their findings in October, 2000.

In the light of that review, I understand from CIE that it is examining a range of options, including the sale and development of property as a basis for the generation of capital for investment in the major infrastructure development plans set out in the national development plan. However, no specific decisions have yet been taken.
