Vol. 536 No. 1

Written Answers - Whiddy Oil Terminal.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

31 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the position in relation to the oil terminal at Whiddy Island, County Cork; if further investment is proposed for the terminal and the position in relation to the proposed sale of the terminal. [13271/01]

The oil terminal at Whiddy Island, County Cork, is operated by Bantry Terminals Limited, a subsidiary of the Irish National Petroleum Corporation. In this context, investment in the terminal is currently a matter for BTL and the INPC. Should the proposed sale of the facility and other INPC assets to the Tosco Corporation proceed, then the question of further investment for the terminal will be for the new owners.

The position in relation to the proposed sale is outlined in my previous reply to Questions Nos. 21, 73 and 80 on today's Order Paper.
