Vol. 536 No. 1

Written Answers - Coastal Erosion.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

54 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will approve funding from his Department to help combat coastal erosion in a town (details supplied) in County Cork. [13364/01]

A preliminary three phase plan has been compiled by consulting engineers on coastal erosion in this location. The local authority has indicated that it intends submitting this plan to my Department in the coming weeks. The plans will be assessed by the Department's engineering division. The scope for funding coast protection works at the location in question will be kept under review in consultation with the local authority in light of available funding.
