Vol. 536 No. 1

Written Answers - Harbours and Piers.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

58 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if the funding sought by Louth County Council to carry out necessary maintenance repair work at Gyles Quay, County Louth, will be forthcoming in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13480/01]

Gyles Quay, County Louth, is owned by Louth County Council and its repair and maintenance is the responsibility of the local authority in the first instance.

My Department received a survey report from the County Council at the end of February 2001 in relation to Gyles Quay which indicates that the condition of the quay has deteriorated. The scope for funding works at this location will be kept under review in consultation with Louth County Council in light of available funding.
