Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Defence Forces Regulations.

Paul McGrath

Question:

206 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Defence if Army motorcycle personnel are required to hold current driving licences appropriate for this class of vehicle; and if not, the road traffic regulation under which these personnel are exempt. [14097/01]

Defence Forces regulations state that Army motorcyclists must be in possession of an Army driving permit, that is, AF 154B motor cycle. Exemptions from certain provisions of the Road Traffic Acts exist for members of the Defence Forces on duty driving military vehicles and enabling provisions in road traffic regulations pertaining to the Defence Forces are in effect.
