Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Question:

242 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a depopulation grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [13958/01]

The person referred to opted to avail of compensation based on live valuation under the on-farm market valuation scheme when agreeing to depopulate his animals. An initial valuation carried out on 6 March 2001 was appealed by the person concerned. An appeal valuation was carried out on 16 March 2001 and the outcome was accepted by the person concerned and by my Department. Queries with the herdowner in relation to the categorisation of his herd for compensation purposes were finalised on 30 April 2001. A significant interim payment, pending finalisation of payment procedures for this new scheme, will shortly issue to the person concerned.
