Written Answers - Decentralisation Programme.

Ulick Burke

Question:

261 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Finance if he has decided there will not be relocation or decentralisation of Departments or sections of Government Departments to cities and towns outside Dublin during the remaining lifetime of this Government; the reasons for the change in Government policy; if the submissions received by his Department have been discarded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14007/01]

The Government's position in a new programme of decentralisation remains unchanged. The Cabinet sub-committee on decentralisation is currently progressing the issue, with a view to a decision being taken by the Government on a new programme. As part of its work, its sub-committee will have regard to the various submissions and representations received by my Department.
