Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Renewal Scheme.

Jack Wall

Question:

340 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a town (details supplied) in County Offaly has been granted urban renewal or town renewal status; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13909/01]

The selection of towns under the town renewal scheme was a matter for individual county councils in accordance with a selection formula contained in the scheme guidelines and which was based on the number of eligible towns in the various counties. Under this formula, Offaly County Council could select a maximum of four towns for which plans could be submitted; this town was not selected by Offaly County Council and consequently could not be considered for designation under the scheme.
