Vol. 536 No. 3

Written Answers - Staff Vacancies.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

209 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if there are any clerical officer vacancies in his Department's offices in County Cavan; and if so, the number of people on the waiting list for transfer to County Cavan. [14263/01]

As part of the PCW, agreement was reached on the restructuring of grades represented by the Civil and Public Service Union. An element of the restructuring agreement provided for the amalgamation of all clerical grades, including clerical assistant, into a single clerical officer grade. Accordingly, all clerical positions are now filled by clerical officers.

In accordance with formal procedures agreed between the Civil and Public Service Union which represents clerical officers and the Department of Finance, the names of officers applying for transfer to a provincial location are entered on my Department's central transfer lists in the order in which they are received. Vacancies which arise in provincial locations are then filled by reference to these lists.

There is currently one clerical officer vacancy in my Department's office located in Cavan town. This position will be filled from the central transfer list for Cavan and there are in the region of 200 names on the list.
