Vol. 536 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rehabilitation Services.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

149 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children when he will approve funding for the new rehabilitation training centre at Ballincollig, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14417/01]

The development of medical rehabilitation services is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards. Priorities for the allocation of funding available for developments in the sector are decided by the health boards in consultation with the regional co-ordinating committees for physical and sensory disability services. Additional funding of just over £92 million is being provided to the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards under the National Development Plan 2000-2006 for the development of services, including rehabilitation services, for people with physical and sensory disabilities.

Discussions are ongoing at health board level regarding the development of this project.
