Vol. 536 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Amalgamation.

Jack Wall

Question:

197 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the amalgamation of two schools (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14276/01]

Agreement in principle has been reached to amalgamate the two schools in County Kildare referred to by the Deputy. An analysis of the existing accommodation at the schools has been undertaken. The schedules of residual accommodation and suggested future use of existing accommodation have been prepared and copies forwarded to the respective school authorities for their acceptance and observations. As soon as a response is received from the schools' authorities and subject to their acceptance of the schedules of accommodation the question of the appointment of a design team for the project will be considered.
