Vol. 536 No. 4

Written Answers. - Soil Biodiversity Research.

John Bruton

Question:

109 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will commission a soil biodiversity research programme, similar to the one being carried out for the British Government by the University of York, to ensure that the long-term fertility of soil here is being maintained. [14482/01]

I am aware of the research programme being carried out by the University of York. My Department will be studying its findings and will decide whether there is merit in carrying out a soil biodiversity research programme of our own.
