Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Irish National Petroleum Corporation.

David Stanton

Question:

169 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Finance the role that his Department has played in the proposed sale of the assets of the Irish National Petroleum Corporation to a company (details supplied); if he has satisfied himself with the terms of the proposed sale; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14907/01]

The negotiations with the proposed purchaser of the assets of the Irish National Petroleum Corporation have been conducted by the INPC. The Department of Public Enterprise has been closely involved in the process from a shareholder perspective. In this context, my Department has been consulted on an ongoing basis on all stages of the proposed sale of the assets. Negotiations on the sale have not yet been concluded.

I am satisfied that every effort continues to be made to secure the most advantageous deal possible for the State.
