Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

175 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance if full details of the proposed Government programme to decentralise 10,000 civil servants and staff members of Government agencies will be announced before the summer recess; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15027/01]

It remains my intention that the Government will be in a position to take decisions in relation to a new programme of decentralisation within the next couple of months. In view of the range of issues which have to be considered by the Cabinet Sub-committee on Decentralisation as well as the Government I cannot be more specific at this time as to when a final decision will be taken.
