196 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide increased resources in order to ensure that the surgical procedure for a spinal cord stimulator is increased from ten per year in order to eliminate the waiting list of 500 public patients; and if he will assist a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 to have the procedure carried out as a matter of urgency. Responsibility for the funding of services at St. Vincent's University Hospital, Elm Park rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have asked its regional chief executive to investigate the matters raised and respond directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

197 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will receive an appointment for a hip replacement operation at Tallaght Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14661/01]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services for residents of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has asked its regional chief executive to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
