Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

341 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science whether the site of the proposed primary school at Littlepace-Castaheany, Dublin 15, has now been fully acquired by his Department; if so, if the legal process has been completed; the cost of the land acquired; and the reason for the withdrawal of the planning application for the permanent school building on this site by his Department to Fingal County Council. [14606/01]

The Chief State Solicitor's office is finalising the legal transfer arrangements in respect of the site for the proposed new primary school at Castaheany, Dublin 15. Until the transfer has been completed, it would be inappropriate for me to disclose information regarding the purchase price.

In regard to the application for planning permission, a revised application has been submitted to Fingal County Council to take account of design alterations that were required to the plans for the new permanent building.

While every effort will be made to expedite the provision of the permanent accommodation, it is not possible to say at this stage when construction will commence.
