Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Equipment.

John Browne

Question:

146 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Defence the plans he has for the re-equipping of the Air Defence Regiment, in terms of both guns and missiles; the timeframe involved; and if the equipment is dependent on the sale of Defence Forces property. [15083/01]

The re-equipment programme for the Defence Forces is proceeding well with an unprecedented level of expenditure on new equipment for the Army, Air Corps and Naval Service.

There are proposals in hand to upgrade the equipment held by the Air Defence Regiment. However, I am not in a position to give specific details of the proposals for operational and security reasons.
