214 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of reported cases of car theft in each of the past three years; if prosecution and conviction have followed in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15324/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought by the Deputy in relation to the number of reported cases of car theft for the years 1997, 1998 and 1999 is available in the annual report of An Garda Síochána, copies of which are available in the Library. Garda statistics for the year 2000 are currently being compiled and will be available in due course.

215 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of incidents of burglary reported in each of the past three years; if prosecution and conviction has been successfully taken in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15325/01]

I can inform the Deputy that indictable crime statistics can be found in the annual reports of An Garda Síochána, copies of which are available in the Library. The most recent annual report details crime statistics in relation to 1999. Garda statistics for the year 2000 are currently being compiled and will be available in due course.
