Vol. 536 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Jim Higgins

Question:

132 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of projects in the national development plan for which his Department is responsible which are not to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14534/01]

My Department has responsibility for a number of measures under the national development plan. These include the equal opportunities child care programme, an equality for women measure, a measure to prepare prisoners for employment after their release, a crime prevention measure, a Garda youth diversion programme, and a number of community-based drug use awareness projects. Work has commenced on the implementation of all of the above measures. There are no projects envisaged under the national development plan in my Department which are not proceeding.
