Vol. 537 No. 1

Written Answers. - Feedingstuffs Monitoring.

John Bruton

Question:

108 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason Ireland is not already carrying out its own monitoring of chemical residues in fish and animal feeds and is, instead, awaiting European Union legislation on this. [15487/01]

Routine monitoring of feed materials and compound feedingstuffs is carried out by my Department to ensure compliance with the EU feedingstuffs legislation, as transposed into Irish legislation, including that relating to tolerances for undesirable substances and products. In this context, samples are taken and analysed on a regular basis.

Question No. 109 answered with Question No. 78.
