Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Stray Animals.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

163 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his Department will investigate and remove stray sheep which are roaming on to privately owned farmlands and are a disease threat; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the person (details supplied) reported this matter on a number of occasions but to date no action has been taken. [15762/01]

In the first instance, the onus is on individual farmers to protect their own farmland and fence their perimeters securely against access and egress. This matter has already been drawn to my attention and I have requested the Department's local office to look into the matter.
