Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tuberculosis Incidence.

John Ellis

Question:

165 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the action he will take to deal with the problem being caused by deer in the Riverstown area, County Sligo. [15801/01]

Primary responsibility for containing farmed deer within holdings rests with herd owners while issues relating to wild deer are primarily the responsibility of Dúchas. The Sligo district veterinary office is aware of the problems being caused by deer in the Riverstown area and officials there are seeking to set up a co-ordinated strategy involving the relevant agencies and others to address the issue.
