Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Drug Treatment Services.

John Gormley

Question:

253 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Health and Children if there are currently plans to introduce a methadone clinic into the Meath Hospital, Dublin 8; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15939/01]

The provision of drug treatment services is the statutory responsibility of the health boards. However, I am informed by the Eastern Regional Health Authority that it has raised the matter with the South Western Area Health Board which has advised that there are no immediate plans to introduce a methadone clinic into the Meath Hospital.
