Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jim Higgins

Question:

273 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the level of grant aid available for the installation of water to houses in rural areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15611/01]

In March 2000 I increased the grant levels available for new group water schemes and the upgrading of existing substandard schemes from 75% of the approved cost, subject to a cost limit of £1,600 per house, to 85% of the approved cost, subject to a cost limit of £6,000 per house. In areas not served by either a group scheme or public supply, grant aid of 75% of the approved cost, subject to a grant limit of £1,600 per house, is available for the provision or necessary improvement of an individual water supply to a house.
